Earlier today, Czech Airlines and Alitalia, the Italian national carrier, launched a new code-share agreement.

Both carriers will thus be able to offer their customers on Czech and Italian markets more than 40 direct return flights weekly between the two countries and connecting flights in Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and other countries. In turns, both carriers will also add new destinations to their schedules; Czech Airlines in the Middle and Near East and in North and South Americas, while Alitalia in the Czech Republic, Slovakia or Ukraine. Customers of both carriers will profit primarily from a better connectivity between the Czech Republic and Italy.

Czech Airlines will add to its schedule a daily connection between Prague and Rome operated by Alitalia. This will allow both carriers to offer their customers up to 2 return frequencies between the two capitals a day. Czech Airlines will also have its OK code on connecting flights to Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, Palermo and Reggio di Calabria, operated daily from Rome by Alitalia. During the main summer season, Czech Airlines clients will thus enjoy air connections from Prague to a total of 16 destinations in Italy – 5 operated by Czech Airlines and 11 by the company’s partners.

The co-operation with Czech Airlines will allow Alitalia to extend its network by direct regular scheduled connections on 5 routes operated by Czech Airlines from Bologna, Milan, Pisa, Rome and Venice to Prague. Alitalia will thus be able to offer its clients up to two daily connections between Milan or Rome and Prague, a daily connection both from Bologna and Venice to Prague and up to three return flights a week between Pisa and Prague. Alitalia will also have its AZ code on Czech Airlines’ routes from Prague to Ostrava, Bratislava, Košice, Odessa and Kyiv. This will enhance the accessibility of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine for Italian customers.

In turns, thanks to the co-operation, Czech Airlines will add to its schedule also flights to Amman and Teheran serviced from Rome by Alitalia as well as flights to Beirut and Skopje, which will complement the offer of Czech Airlines direct scheduled connections to both destinations from Prague. Three new Alitalia routes from Rome, Milan and Venice to Abu Dhabi will also appear on Czech Airlines schedule under the carrier’s OK code. Moreover, upon the receipt of all necessary approvals, Czech Airlines will extend its schedule by routes to Toronto, New York (JFK), Boston, Los Angeles, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, operated by Alitalia from Rome, which connect to the flights between Prague and the capital of Italy.

“It is my great honour to welcome Alitalia as our code-share-based partner, the 23rd in a row, but one of the largest and most important in terms of the scope of the co-operation. I am even more pleased with our new co‑operation with Alitalia as it is our partner from the SkyTeam Alliance, of which we are also a member. Thanks to the co-operation, we can together offer our clients over 40 direct return flights between Prague and Italy a week and a number of attractive connecting flights. I believe that our co‑operation will help enhance the air connectivity of the two countries for both business and leisure travellers and also strengthen the position and increase the sales of the carriers on both Czech and Italian markets,” Ján Tóth, Czech Airlines Director of Commerce, Marketing and Alliances, said.

Effective today, tickets for the new connections are available for purchase via both carriers’ websites: www.alitalia.com and www.czechairlines.com, at travel agencies and via both carriers’ Contact Centres.
