Travel without Barriers

We consider assisting passengers with reduced mobility or ill passengers to be a natural responsibility, and there is no charge for such assistance.

If you require this type of assistance during check-in and the flight itself, inform us when you make a reservation. Special assistance is provided primarily to passengers who are:

  • Ill or with reduced mobility
  • Visually- or hearing-impaired

If you are not certain whether your health will permit you to travel by air, read the information on the Caring for Your Health page carefully and consult your physician with respect to your travel plans.

Ill Passengers or Passengers with Reduced Mobility

  • The carriage of ill passengers or passengers with reduced mobility must be agreed upon and confirmed in advance (48 hours before their travel at a minimum)
  • Acceptance of ill passengers and passengers with reduced mobility for air carriage is limited with regard to their own safety and the safety of other passengers
  • If the size of the aircraft or its boarding door and technical equipment or narrow space aboard do not allow safe transport, Czech Airlines may refuse the carriage of the passenger
  • Czech Airlines may require a medical certificate (on a special MEDIF form, which is available from Czech Airlines sales offices) if the airline is to carry an ill passenger

An airport wheelchair is available during check-in and on the way to/from the aircraft for passengers with reduced mobility. A collapsible wheelchair to move immobile passengers during the flight is available aboard A310-321-320-319 and B737-400-500 aircraft types only. Immobile passengers can check their wheelchair in as luggage (free of charge). You can obtain information about carrying a wheelchair when you make your reservation.

Visually- or hearing-impaired passengers

  • If a visually-impaired passenger is accompanied by a guide dog, the dog is transported free of charge aboard the aircraft. The dog must wear a harness and leash (a muzzle is recommended for the dog if necessary).
  • The passenger must carry the dog’s Training Certificate and all the required travel documents
  • These same rules apply to other disabled passengers who are dependent on an accompanying dog

Meet and Assist Service (paid assistance for passengers)

Contact us if you are travelling by plane for the first time, do not speak a foreign language or if you are worried that you cannot manage all of the procedures connected with your flight. We will be glad to assist you with check-in and your passport and security checks and will accompany you all the way to the aircraft cabin. Our colleagues will also be available for you after you land. We provide this service for a fee and you can order it when you book your flight.
